I don’t like killing critters but I love shooting at moving targets and I only want to scare them away!
I like this new 22 magnum shot ammo.
20 for $6.81 – 34 cents each
I can use these beauties in the the world’s most powerful pistol
Here is my Thompson Centerfire Contender, re-mounted with a 22 magnum barrel and scope:
Now I can dust the varmints and vermin without feeling guilty!
But the Thompson looks funny carrying it, since no holster fits it:

Familiarity breeds contempt while rarity wins admiration!
My father was a manager and he believed that the old aggage "familiarity breeds contempt" is true, you should never become buddies with your employees. It’s super important never to fraternize with your underlings, and some organization (Large Corporations, the Military) have strict rules against "fraternization". I had never seen the full quote before, and it’s worthy managerial advice that is several thousand years old! “Familiarity breeds contempt, while rarity wins admiration.” Quoted from Apuleius, a Roman philosopher Stetch of Apuleius

Google word usage history!
Check out the Google word usage "ngrams"! http://ngrams.googlelabs.com/graph This is great fun, showing the frequency of words in the English language. Try typing in the "F" word and look back to the 1700's . . . . The problems is that the old English "s", looked like an "f":

Lawsuit over stolen foot!
This is too weird, a Lawsuit over the theft of a severed foot! "The defendant in this case said she did not intend to cause the plaintiff any pain by stealing his foot, and that seems plausible since it wasn't attached at the time. The plaintiff was quite seriously injured in a 2008 crash on I-95 in Florida, and had to be airlifted to a hospital. About an hour later, the defendant, a firefighter/paramedic who had been called to the scene, found the foot in the wreckage."

Twitter tweet sends child molester to prison!
We all know how Gilbert Gottfried (the voice of the quack behind the Aflac duck) got fired for a twitter comment: "I just split up with my girlfriend, but like the Japanese say, 'There'll be another one floating by any minute now.' " "Japan called me. They said 'maybe those jokes are a hit in the US, but over here, they're all sinking.' " "What do the Japanese have in common with @howardstern? They're both radio active." "Japan is really advanced. They don't go to the beach. The beach comes to them." Tweet and go to jail But now sex offenders are going to prison for twating . Jailed for using twitter

Fun optical delusion:
The little dots of light create the illusion that the checkerboard lines are not rectilinear.
When the guy’s hat brim blocks the light dots, the checkerboards change perspective!

PTSD as a weapon!
Audie Murphy had it all.
He was young, handsome, a movie star, not to mention that Murph was the most decorated hero in American History:
Audie Murphy: Movie star and America’s greatest hero
But there was a tragic downside for Audie, he suffered from “Battle Fatigue”, what we call PTSD today.
As the son of a 100% disabled veteran, I strongly support the Wounded Warriors Project and I spent weeks in VA hospitals back in the 1960’s and 1970’s talking to vets with “Battle Fatigue”.
I believe that PTSD is caused by alterations in brain chemistry.
PTSD happens during “near death“ experiences when the pituitary gland floods the brain with adrenaline.
Over time, adrenaline causes irreversible damage to the brain, triggering the schizophrenia and hyper vigilance that is associated with this debilitating condition.
PTSD as a weapon
PTSD is crippling, but it a batter fate than dying, and I wonder of using PTSD as a weapon might help end the War in Afghanistan sooner.
I was reading a NEWSWEEK article titled “shell shocked” and I was excited to know that the terrorists are suffering from PTSD just like the Americans.
PTSD can make enemy terrorists ineffective
Maybe America should change our battle focus from killing terrorists to disabling the enemy by giving them PTSD.

My mother emigrated through Ellis Island!
I love Ancestry.com!!!!
It saves hundreds of hours of scouring microfiche!
I found my mother Virginia G. Burleson (Griffiths) and my grandmother’s immigration records from Ellis Island in 1921!
My Dublin-born Mother emigrated to the United States through Ellis Island as an infant in 1921 after her father died at sea from an illness.
They sailed from Dublin to Liverpool to meet the Carmania and arrived at Ellis Island on the Cunard ship the SS Carmania on January 15th, 1921.
The Cunard ship "Carmania"
Their final destination was originally marked San Francisco California, but it was changed enroute to Philadelphia. In reality, they settled in Manhattan.
The record is a great genealogy record, and the immigration agent Americanized their names from Griffiths to Griffith!
Here is a copy of the actual manifesto that I've been searching for for more than 30 years, instantly available on Ancestry.com! Amazing!

Video games of the 1960’s
It’s true; they had video games in the 1960’s.
They were not computerized, but it was state-of-the-art at the time!
My favorite toy was the “Jimmy Jet” a toy flight simulator that would actually fire plastic missiles!
The box was sexist, it said that Jimmy jet was “For BOYS only”!
“Jimmy Jet" was sold in supermarkets and made by Deluxe Reading, manufactured from 1963-1966.
Here is the TV ad . . .I HAD to get one of these! As I recall, I wore it out.
