This is too weird, a Lawsuit over the theft of a severed foot! "The defendant in this case said she did not intend to cause the plaintiff any pain by stealing his foot, and that seems plausible since it wasn't attached at the time. The plaintiff was quite seriously injured in a 2008 crash on I-95 in Florida, and had to be airlifted to a hospital. PTSD as a weapon!

Audie Murphy had it all.

He was young, handsome, a movie star, not to mention that Murph was the most decorated hero in American History:

But there was a tragic downside for Audie, he suffered from “Battle Fatigue”, what we call PTSD today.

As the son of a 100% disabled veteran, I strongly support the Wounded Warriors Project and I spent weeks in VA hospitals back in the 1960’s and 1970’s talking to vets with “Battle Fatigue”.



I believe that PTSD is caused by alterations in brain chemistry.

PTSD happens during “near death“ experiences when the pituitary gland floods the brain with adrenaline.

Over time, adrenaline causes irreversible damage to the brain, triggering the schizophrenia and hyper vigilance that is associated with this debilitating condition.

PTSD as a weapon

PTSD is crippling, but it a batter fate than dying, and I wonder of using PTSD as a weapon might help end the War in Afghanistan sooner.

I was reading a NEWSWEEK article titled “shell shocked” and I was excited to know that the terrorists are suffering from PTSD just like the Americans.

Maybe America should change our battle focus from killing terrorists to disabling the enemy by giving them PTSD.

I found my mother Virginia G. Burleson (Griffiths) and my grandmother’s immigration records from Ellis Island in 1921!

My Dublin-born Mother emigrated to the United States through Ellis Island as an infant in 1921 after her father died at sea from an illness.

They sailed from Dublin to Liverpool to meet the Carmania and arrived at Ellis Island on the Cunard ship the SS Carmania on January 15th, 1921.

Their final destination was originally marked San Francisco California, but it was changed enroute to Philadelphia. In reality, they settled in Manhattan.

The record is a great genealogy record, and the immigration agent Americanized their names from Griffiths to Griffith!

It’s true; they had video games in the 1960’s.

They were not computerized, but it was state-of-the-art at the time!

My favorite toy was the “Jimmy Jet” a toy flight simulator that would actually fire plastic missiles!

The box was sexist, it said that Jimmy jet was “For BOYS only”!

“Jimmy Jet" was sold in supermarkets and made by Deluxe Reading, manufactured from 1963-1966.

Road kill squirrel recipe

There is nothing worse than letter good meat go to waste, it's a sin to waste food:



This readkill recipe works great on Roadkill squirrel but make sure that the squirrel is still warm.

WARNING: Discard any stiff squirrels with rigor mortis . . .


Roadkill is good eatin if it's not been dead too long . . .

GRANNY’S KENTUCKY FRIED SQUIRREL RECIPE

2 Squirrels, cut up (or 1 wild possum when times is hard)
1/3 c All-purpose flour
1/2 ts Salt
1/8 ts Black pepper
1/8 ts Cayenne pepper ..
Vegetable oil
3 tb All-purpose flour
1 1/2 c Milk or chicken broth
Salt and pepper
Brown bouquet sauce.

Using a small plastic garbage bag, combine 1/3 cup flour, the salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper; and shake to mix.

Skin, behead and disembowel your squirrel, adding the squirrel pieces and shake to coat.

In large skillet, heat 1/8 inch of oil for squirrel, or 1/4 inch of oil for rabbit, over medium-high heat until hot. Add coated meat; brown on all sides. Reduce heat; cover tightly. Cook over very low heat until tender, 35-45 minutes for squirrel, 20-25 minutes for a possum, turning pieces once.

Remove cover; cook 5 minutes longer to crisp. Transfer Kentucky fried squirrel meat to plate lined with paper towels. Set aside to keep warm.

FINGER LICKIN READKILL SQUIRREL GRAVY

Discard all but 3 tablespoons oil. Over medium heat, stir flour into reserved oil. Blend in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thicken and bubbly. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add bouquet sauce if darker color is desired.

Serve gravy with squirrel meat.
