Hiroshima survivor surprised by Enola Gay co-pilot!

This is too weird to make up, but it’s true. Who says TV was tame in the 1950’s? This clip would make Jerry Springer proud.

In the bizarre video below, the “This is your life” TV game show surprises Japanese atomic bomb survivors by introducing them to Bob Lewis, the B-19 co-pilot who helped to disfigured them.

I cannot imagine a greater surprise.

The good stuff is about a minute in, worth the wait:

Bob Lewis received the Air Medal for that mission.

In the perverse mathematics of warfare, the bombing at Hiroshima and Nagasaki prevented the invasion of Japan and saved over a million lives, but that was no consolation to the civilians who got nuked.
